We analyzed one week of messages sent to jobsite crews using the MindForge app.
There are a ton of teams currently using MindForge to increase their reach to the front line. It's been incredible to see how useful the tool is. But we were curious: what is the main topic of discussion between leaders and employees?
Well, it turns out it’s safety.
The topic of safety may cause some eye rolls, but you can't deny its obvious importance. Otherwise, it wouldn't be a #1 topic of discussion.
But why is it discussed so much? And what exactly were people saying?
Let's take a look at the most common talking points:
01.
Instructions and reminders for tying off while working at heights
Falls from heights are one of the most common workplace hazards. Over the years we've seen countless examples of crews either not using PFAS, or using it wrong. The best way to keep working-at-heights safety front of mind is by sending helpful info and reminders directly to your crews on their way to work up high.
02.
Details for safely entering and exiting an area
As teams constantly travel to different locations, it can be challenging to remember the logistical details of each one. Parking areas? Access codes? Hours of operation? The more guesswork we can remove, the for our crews, the more efficiently we can get the work done.
03.
Inspection notes for equipment and tools
Equipment and machines need to be inspected. If issues are found, fixes need to be made quickly. A system to easily store inspection notes and then deliver them to the proper channels is critical to keeping work running smoothly.
04.
Basic driver safety training
As crews are constantly driving to different jobs, it's extremely beneficial to continuously train on the rules of the road. We see companies regularly assigning driver training videos to their employees and holding them accountable for completing them.
05.
Introduction of new PPE requirements
Times change, and so does our knowledge of best practices in PPE. Sometimes those changes can't afford to be rolled out slowly. When our teams are out in the field, driving from location to location, we need the ability to get the word out instantly and ensure that everyone's in the loop.
06.
Reminders to protect yourself on the side of the road
When you're working road-side, you need all the protection you can get from unpredictable drivers. Simple things go a long way - like parking your truck to shield you from traffic. By reminding your teams to take precautions, you permit them to work safely and not take unnecessary risks.
The most common job-site messages keep safety front and center for everyone.
Contractors and Construction leaders know how important safety is on their projects. Not only does it help their people avoid injury, but it helps reduce losses in the process. That's why no one wants to see topics like these fall by the wayside.
What can be done?
“More and more site leaders are learning to take every opportunity to remind their field crews about prioritizing safety,“ says MindForge founder Stokes McIntyre.
Modern apps and tools allow field leaders and company owners to reach their crews faster and more efficiently than ever. Perfect for delivering crucial information.
